Halloween is back! Are you ready?

Many of us enjoy dressing up and going to parties or trick-or-treating with our little ones, but how many of you out there dress up your pet? These days there are so many awesome costumes to dress your pet up in, whether they want to be a fairy princess, a pirate, or a wicked witch.

There are even doggie parades that you can walk your dog in. These parades especially give you the opportunity to be very creative, although you must keep your dog's wellbeing in mind when creating extravagant concoctions.

It is important to remember that dogs must still be able to be dogs while wearing their costumes. They must be able to sniff themselves, go potty, drink, eat, and have fun while they are in their costume. If they can't, well then you need to tweak their costume a bit or change it all together.

Dogs can be fun to bring along with you when you go trick-or-treating, but only if you are able to control them and your little trick-or-treaters. It is not a good idea, if you have a dog that spooks easily, to take them to places where there will be loud noises. The last thing you want is for your dog to freak out on you at night and when you have your children with you.

Also, if you just plan to stay home and pass out candy, you can still dress up your dog. People love to see dogs dressed up in cute/creative costumes and I'm sure that it will make most kids smile as well. One thing to remember is that not everyone likes dogs so make sure to only let your dog go out and greet people if they seem to like dogs. Also, some kids are afraid of dogs, especially ones that jump or lick them. Halloween should be a positive experience for everyone!
